Structural Family Therapy

Interconnected, Interdependent & Resilient

Families are complex, living systems. Each member carries their own emotions, experiences, and ways of coping with life. Over time, families can fall into patterns that unintentionally create distance, leaving individuals feeling unseen, disconnected, or longing for greater love and acceptance. Even when everyone cares deeply, it can sometimes feel as though each person is moving in their own direction, unsure how to reconnect.

Structural Family Therapy offers a supportive space where every family member has the opportunity to be heard and understood. Through this process, patterns of interaction are identified, and new pathways for connection are created. The therapist works collaboratively with the family to strengthen relationships, restore balance, and help each member feel valued within the family system.

How does family therapy work?

Family therapy is most effective when everyone participates. I specialize in supporting teens and parents as they navigate challenges together, and when other siblings, whether younger or older, are part of the family dynamic, their involvement is encouraged as well. Each person plays an important role in the system, and lasting change happens when the whole family is included.

Most sessions are conducted with the family together. At the start of treatment, however, I meet individually with each member to create space for their story to be shared with care and full attention. This allows me to understand each perspective more clearly and develop thoughtful, tailored strategies that support your family’s unique strengths and needs.
